A gift for the memorabilia collector in your life - eight satin "Tobacco Silks" sewn together into a mini quilt. Tobacco silks are from the early 1900s when tobacco companies would put these in cigarette packages so consumers would buy more packs to collect them all. There are six country ribbons: Scotland, Mexico, China, Switzerland and two different ones from Wales. Also one "Canoe" badge and one which reads "Royal NW Mounted Police".
The Royal North-West Mounted Police or NWMP were a precursor to the RCMP in Canada and only operated under that name from 1904 to 1920.
They're carefully hand-stitched together and would likely have been a starter patchwork for a campfire patch blanket.
COLOR: Green, Blue, gold, burgundy, pale green, orange, black, purple.
MATERIAL: Cotton
CONDITION: Stitched together, and a few loose threads here and there, but still bright and in very good vintage condition.
MEASUREMENTS (APPROXIMATE, LYING FLAT): Each patch measures approximately 2 1/2 x 1 1/2 inches (6.5 x 3.8 cm)
