Mango - Lime - Fun

This is a ridiculously fun white blend from Maria and Alex Koppitsch from Burgenland, Austria. Homok translates as 'sand' in Hungarian and this wine only uses grapes that grow on the sandy soils of the flat, dry and windy Seefeld vineyard. Since Seefeld is straight in the haze of Lake Neusiedl, the grapes develop very intense aromas. Imagine sipping on a mango and lime smoothie on the beach, dipping your toes in the refreshing coolness of the lake...

During harvest, all grapes are processed in the backyard. whole bunches go straight into the screw press without additives or temperature control. The juice then goes straight into stainless steel, large acacia barrels, oak barrels and fibreglass tanks where it ferments naturally. All three grapes (Grüner, Weissburgunder and Sauvignon Blanc) were matured together on the lees for 6-7 months. Bottled unfined, unfiltered without the addition of any sulphur.
