This is a classic Great Britain 1 Penny Red definitive stamp, issued between 1854 and 1857 during the reign of Queen Victoria. It features the iconic left-facing profile of the Queen, engraved by Charles Heath and Frederick Heath, based on William Wyon’s medallic portrait. The stamp shows corner check letters S–G, which helped to prevent forgery. Printed in red on white paper, it is perforated (as opposed to the earlier imperforate Penny Reds). The heavy black cancel, likely a barred numeral or Maltese Cross type, reflects genuine postal use. A historic piece of Victorian postal history, highly collectible for both GB specialists and classic stamp enthusiasts.
