I splurged on this one, purchased from an excellent longtime paper dealer with many a special thing--how often does one find a paper model of a tooth as completely lovely as this? And it is a scarce one, one of a series of fold-out/pop up anatomical paper models published by G.Eisenmenger (Editor F. Nathan), Paris, early 20th century--I've had a hard time finding much more information than that, but I believe these were produced as prints, to be carefully cut out and assembled, as this one was, with exactitude. Very French, in the lineage of the models of Dr. Auzoux (1797-1880), who revolutionized anatomical teaching by creating papier-mâché models that could be taken apart. And certainly the parts and layers of a molar seem much more engaging described in French! Really a lovely thing, color lithography (in very pretty pastel shades) on card, which will stand up on its own as shown.
6 x 3 7/8" laid flat. Excellent condition. All layers shown in photos.
