"Blind Beast" (1969), directed by Yasuzo Masumura, is a Japanese psychological horror film based on a novel by Edogawa Ranpo. The film tells the story of a blind masseur, Michio, who kidnaps a model, Aki, after she poses for an S&M photo shoot. The story explores themes of obsession, captivity, and the blurring lines between captor and captive as Michio imprisons Aki in his surreal, art-filled studio. The film features a strong visual style, with surreal and Dali-esque sets, and builds to a climax that has been compared to later works like Oshima's "In the Realm of the Senses".
