I wish I was there to witness the taking of this photo--to know how this handmade flag came to be, how it came to be planted here, and all about our woman in white!  And what a funny metal cone on the flag pole just below the flag, looking as if designed to keep the squirrels off of it! Quite an effort piling all those rocks around the base, too, suggesting not just a momentary installation. And so perhaps our woman here is just a visitor, having hiked up to this scenic overlook to have her picture taken with this photogenic flag--a patriotic pilgrimage of sorts!
