The latest release from Mwezi Waq, a group that aims to modernize the traditional music of the Comoros Islands in the Indian Ocean. The album is dedicated to the "forgotten masses," and features songs about the harsh daily life and history of the Comoros, expressed through modern instrumentation. The album introduces the deep traditional culture of the island, including a "tradition of live words" inspired by the traditional Comorian wedding speech "shinduwantsi" (shinduwantsi). The album also pays homage to the artists who made the Comorian music scene famous between 1970 and 2000, and consists of 14 songs (plus one remix), including seven covers of past hits. (C)RS
