I Mean Us is the long-awaited second album by I Mean Us, a dream-pop band that boasts immense popularity in the Taiwanese indie music scene. Three years after releasing their highly acclaimed debut album "OST," which was created based on the concept of a soundtrack for a fictional road movie, I Mean Us has been living side by side with a pandemic. That anxious and helpless time forced them to start digging deep inside their already dark inner world. This work, Into Innerverse, was created after facing the bitterness of life and the grief of losing a friend. It tells a story of night cruising memories, a time of musing to oneself, and an imagination that transcends life and death.The sound, which combines elements of post-rock, psychedelic rock, and shoegaze with a dream-pop base, gains an even greater sense of scale, and is characterized by floating and dynamic synths and guitars, and the powerful vocals of songwriter Mandark Liang, a member of the city pop band Beetle Sweet John, and songwriter Chun Zhang (who left the band before the release of this album). The contrasting twin vocal combination of Mandark Liang's beautiful, clear voice and the powerful vocals of Chun Zhang (who left the band before the release of this album), another songwriter, is much more dreamy. The album contains nine songs, including "24 Years Old of You," which won the "Best Alternative Pop Song" award at the Golden Indie Music Awards, a Taiwanese music award.
